What is the cause of the bilirubin increased

Bilirubin mostly comes from aging red blood cells, which release hemoglobin, including indirect bilirubin and direct bilirubin. Indirect bilirubin is transported to the liver through the blood and directly produced by stem cells. Bilirubin is increased in liver diseases, acute icteric hepatitis, acute yellow liver necrosis, chronic active hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, hemolytic jaundice, blood type incompatible transfusion reactions, cholecystitis and gallstones.
