How long does it take to get syphilis?

Patients with primary syphilis first develop chancre, mainly around the genitals. The chancre lasts about 4-6 weeks. Some patients also develop symptoms of secondary syphilis before the chancre has subsided. Most patients begin to enter secondary syphilis 2-4 weeks after the chancre has subsided.
