Chickenpox is caused by herpes zoster virus infection. It is generally infectious during the incubation period of the disease. After the skin lesions are scab, they basically lose their infectivity. Chickenpox usually lasts for about 2-3 weeks. After recovery, they can gain lasting immunity, but they may lead to herpes zoster in adulthood.
