The most important clinical value of EEG is to determine epilepsy. Epilepsy is a chronic brain disease. Some normal neurons in the brain are transformed into epileptic neurons due to various reasons. The most prominent manifestation of epileptic lesions is abnormal epileptic discharges on EEG, which can be detected by EEG. However, when only epileptic lesions are discharging and not spreading out, there is often no epilepsy in clinical practice. Seizures occur when focal discharges break through peripheral neurosuppressive systems and spread out to cause synchronized responses in other brain regions. When epilepsy is not occurring, the EEG may detect abnormal discharges from epileptic lesions. However, due to abnormal discharges from epileptic lesions, they do not occur continuously all the time. During EEG examination, normal It can only reflect the time period during which the EEG is performed, but it does not mean that epileptic discharges can never spread and cause clinical seizures.
