Neonates breathe faster than adults. If they breathe too fast, they may be caused by tracheomalacia, laryngitis, atelectasis, pleural effusion, pneumonia, pulmonary edema, throat foreign body, nasal obstruction, cold encephalitis and intracranial hemorrhage. They should be admitted to hospital for respiratory tract and brain CT examination.
