Postpartum urinary retention is a simple four-step solution

Healing with compassion, caring with purpose.
There is no simple four-way solution to postpartum urinary retention in clinical practice, but it can be relieved by changing urination posture, hot compress, massage and other methods.
1. Change urination posture
Patients can sit on the toilet, put their hands on the knees, lean forward, head lower than the pelvis, simulate inverted posture, can change the position of the bladder and urethra, help urine discharge.
2. Hot compress
patients can be hot water bag or warm and humid towel in the bladder area, can promote blood circulation, relax bladder muscles, stimulate urine discharge.
3. Massage
patients can gently massage the urethral orifice area with warm and moist fingers, and then massage up to the symphysis pubis, repeated several times, can stimulate the urethra and bladder nerves, improve urinary retention.
