Acute glomerulonephritis and chronic glomerulonephritis

Acute glomerulonephritis and chronic glomerulonephritis are different in the course of disease, pathological changes, prognosis, etc.

1. Different courses

Acute glomerulonephritis belongs to acute kidney disease, the course of disease is relatively short, can return to normal in a short time. Chronic glomerulonephritis belongs to chronic disease, the course of disease is relatively long.

2. Different pathological changes

Acute glomerulonephritis pathological changes include capillary endothelial cell and mesangial cell proliferation. Chronic glomerulonephritis pathological changes include glomerulosclerosis, fibrosis and vitreous degeneration.

3. Prognosis is different

Acute glomerulonephritis has a tendency to self-heal, most patients prognosis is relatively good. Chronic glomerulonephritis usually can not be cured, need lifelong treatment, the prognosis of the disease is relatively poor.
