Adrenal tumor: simple adrenalectomy or total adrenalectomy

Adrenal gland tumor should be treated by simple adrenalectomy or total adrenalectomy.

If the tumor is benign and confined to the adrenal gland, there is no obvious tendency to invade or metastasize, simple adrenalectomy can be selected, while the rest of the adrenal gland can be preserved by laparoscopic or open surgery. If the tumor is malignant, large, invasive or metastatic, total adrenalectomy is required to remove the entire adrenal gland to ensure complete tumor clearance.
