How is urethroscopy examined?

Guiding you to a healthier tomorrow.
The procedure for urethroscopy usually includes preparation, insertion of the urethroscope, observation, and diagnosis. The explanation is as follows:
1. Preparation
Before the examination, the doctor will ask the patient about the medical history and current symptoms. Usually, the patient will be asked to empty the bladder before the examination. To reduce discomfort, the doctor may give the patient a local anesthesia.
2. Insertion of the urethroscope
After local anesthesia, the doctor slowly inserts the lubricated urethroscope into the urethral meatus and gradually advances it to the entire urethra and bladder for examination.
3. Observation and diagnosis
Through the camera on the urethroscope, the doctor can directly observe the internal conditions of the urethra, including the state of the urethral wall, whether there are strictures, abnormal tissues, or stones. If necessary, the doctor can also perform minor surgical procedures such as stone removal, biological tissue biopsy, or irrigation through the urethroscope.
