Composition of Huanglian Xiexin Decoction

Huanglian Xiexin Decoction has different compositions and effects according to different sources. It has the functions of clearing heart-fire, cooling blood and stopping bleeding, and treating mouth sores and bleeding caused by excessive heart-fire. The specific compositions include Huanglian, Radix Rehmanniae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Clematidis, Herba Schizonepetae, Fructus Forsythiae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, etc. The Huanglian Xiexin Decoction in "Zhang's Medical Treatise", namely Dahuang Huanglian Xiexin Decoction, is a prescription in "Treatise on Febrile Diseases". It consists of rhubarb and coptis chinensis and has the effect of purging heat and dispersing fullness.
