What is the urethra membrane?

Urethral membrane part is the part of urethra passing through urogenital diaphragm.

Urethral membrane part is located between two layers of triangular ligament, surrounded by urethral membrane sphincter. Urethral membrane part has a curve, namely subpubic curve, which is relatively weak. If improper manipulation is performed during catheterization, urethral invasive examination, etc., it may cause damage to subpubic curve. In addition, when perineal part is violently squeezed, it is easy to cause damage to subpubic curve.

If urethral membrane part is suspected to be damaged, patients can go to hospital for color ultrasound, CT, magnetic resonance imaging, etc., so as to make a definite diagnosis.
