Is thrombocytopenia purpura serious?

Empathy in care, excellence in medicine.
Thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a group of hemorrhagic diseases caused by excessive destruction of platelets mediated by immune system. It is characterized by extensive bleeding of skin mucosa and internal organs, thrombocytopenia, abnormal development of megakaryocytes in bone marrow, shortened survival time of platelets, and expression of platelet-specific autoantibodies. The etiology of ITP is still unknown. It may be related to infection, immune factors, and abnormal spleen function. Thrombocytopenic purpura belongs to the categories of "muscle epistaxis","grape plague" and "hair spot" in traditional Chinese medicine. TCM thinks that the pathogenesis of this disease has four aspects: heat enters the Ying blood, blood heat runs; yin deficiency and fire are excessive, collateral injury and blood overflow; qi deficiency is not restrained, blood overflow outside the meridians; blood stasis is blocked, blood does not return to the meridians.
