Can Valciclovir Treat Herpes?

First of all, valciclovir is actually a derivative of acyclovir, which is commonly used as an antiviral drug in clinical practice. The so-called herpes mainly refers to a series of viral diseases caused by herpes simplex virus or varicella-zoster virus infection. For example, herpes simplex virus can cause herpes around the mouth, facial herpes, genital herpes and so on. Varicella-zoster virus infection, commonly known as herpes zoster, can be treated clinically with valciclovir. Genital herpes caused by herpes simplex virus infection can be treated orally with valciclovir. For some patients with recurrent genital herpes, valciclovir can also be used for long-term maintenance treatment in small doses.
