Herpes zoster is caused by varicella zoster virus infection. Lumbar herpes zoster is related to the immune status of the body. varicella zoster virus lurks in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord, or sensory ganglia of the brain. The latent virus is activated when the body's immune system is stimulated, such as trauma, fatigue, malignant tumors, or weakness after illness, causing the body's resistance to decline. Herpes zoster is characterized by erythema and papules along the nerve band on one side, accompanied by obvious pain. Treatment requires antiviral, analgesic and neurotrophic drugs.
