C199, tumor markers?

Dedicated to your healing journey.
CA199 is a tumor marker.
CA199 is often elevated in digestive system tumors such as pancreatic cancer, and can be used as one of the indicators for auxiliary diagnosis. For patients suspected of pancreatic, biliary and other parts of the tumor, detection of CA199 can help doctors make preliminary judgments.
For patients with confirmed tumors, regular detection of CA199 levels can reflect tumor progression, treatment effect, etc. If the level decreases after treatment, it may indicate that treatment may be effective; and continuous increase or significant increase may indicate disease progression or recurrence. It
should not be noted that although CA199 is associated with some tumors, it is not a specific marker for tumors. Other benign diseases, such as biliary inflammation, cirrhosis, etc., may also lead to mild increase. Therefore, CA199 elevation alone cannot be used to diagnose tumors. It needs to be combined with clinical symptoms and other examinations.
