What does the uneven increase of gastric wall signal on DWI mean?

DWI and DWI examination belong to one of the magnetic resonance imaging techniques. DWI examination indicates uneven increase of gastric wall signal, which is considered to be caused by gastric ulcer, gastric polyp and surgical scar.

1. Gastric ulcer

itself will thicken gastric tissue to resist gastric acid erosion, so DWI examination will indicate uneven increase of gastric wall signal.

2. Gastric polyp itself

will also thicken gastric tissue and present uneven increase of gastric wall signal.

3. Surgical scar

If stomach surgery has been performed before, scar tissue hyperplasia at surgical incision will also thicken gastric tissue, and DWI examination will often indicate uneven increase of gastric wall signal.
