Why can you still have diarrhea during chemotherapy

Healing hearts, one patient at a time.
Diarrhea generally refers to diarrhea. Diarrhea during chemotherapy may be related to mental factors, intestinal mucosal damage, antibiotic use and other factors.
1. Mental factors
During chemotherapy, patients may be accompanied by greater mental stress and anxiety, which may cause intestinal dysfunction and lead to diarrhea.
2. Intestinal mucosal damage
Chemotherapy drugs not only kill cancer cells, but also damage healthy cells, including digestive tract mucosal cells. May lead to gastrointestinal inflammation and diarrhea.
3. Antibiotic use
During chemotherapy, due to immune system damage, patients are more susceptible to infection. Doctors may recommend antibiotics to prevent infection during chemotherapy, but antibiotics may also destroy normal intestinal flora, resulting in diarrhea.
