Side effects of polygonum cuspidatum

Polygonum cuspidatum is also known as spot stick, blood activating dragon, etc. It has slightly bitter taste, slightly cold, and returns to liver, gallbladder and lung meridians. It has the functions of removing dampness and removing jaundice, clearing away heat and toxic materials, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain, resolving phlegm and relieving cough. It can be used to treat amenorrhea caused by damp-heat jaundice, blood stasis, cough and expectoration caused by lung heat. Polygonum cuspidatum also has certain clearing heat and laxative effect, which can be used to treat constipation caused by gastrointestinal heat accumulation. Conventional use of polygonum cuspidatum has no obvious side effects, but large doses may cause nausea and vomiting, premature beats and so on.
