How to determine the severity of fatty liver disease

Patients can judge the severity of fatty liver by liver fat weight, liver function and imaging examination.

1. Liver fat weight

: 5%~10% of liver weight is mild fatty liver; more than 10%~25% is moderate fatty liver; more than 25% is severe fatty liver.

2. Liver function

: Mild fatty liver has normal liver function, while moderate and severe fatty liver will show elevated ALT and AST.

3. Imaging examination

: B-ultrasound, CT and other imaging examinations can observe liver morphology, density, etc. to judge the severity of fatty liver. Among them, magnetic resonance proton density fat score can more accurately evaluate the degree of fatty liver.
