What is gastric diverticulum?

Your health is my mission, your recovery is my joy.
Gastric diverticulum refers to a localized pouch expansion or cystic protrusion of the stomach wall.
Gastric diverticulum refers to a dilated lesion of the stomach wall, similar to a pouch protrusion, usually located between the outermost muscular layer and the intima of the gastrointestinal tract. Gastric diverticulum is more common in the elderly and infirm. The cause of its formation is not completely clear, but it is related to degeneration such as atrophy, thinning and elasticity of the gastric wall. Most patients are usually asymptomatic. However, if gastric diverticulum is associated with inflammation, infection or perforation, it may cause serious consequences, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss and other symptoms.
