What is transanal rectal endoscopy?

Transorectal endoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the inside of the rectum and anus.

Transorectal endoscopy is performed by inserting a special anoscope into the anus to directly observe the structures and lesions inside the rectum and anus. Transorectal endoscopy is usually performed under local anesthesia. The patient is first asked to assume a lateral or prone position, and then the doctor inserts the anoscope into the patient's anus for examination. The main objective of this examination is to detect internal rectal and anal lesions, including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, polyps, etc., and to evaluate the structural relationship between the rectum and anus.
