broken wrist

Empowering lives through health.
Fracture of wrist may be caused by extension fracture, flexion fracture, fracture of articular surface of distal radius and other factors. 1. Extension fracture is caused by elbow extension, forearm pronation, wrist extension, palm landing injury. Symptoms are pain, swelling, joint deformity, such as silver fork or bayonet deformity. 2. Flexural fractures are usually caused by wrist flexion and hand landing injuries when falling, or by direct violence to the back of the wrist. Similar to extension fractures, but the injury mechanism and fracture pattern are different. 3. Fracture of the articular surface of the distal radius is caused by a fall of the wrist in dorsal extension, pronation of the forearm, landing of the palm, transmission of force through the carpal bone, impact on the dorsal side of the radial joint, resulting in a fracture of the wrist joint, followed by a dorsal displacement of the wrist joint. The treatment methods of wrist fracture include general treatment, drug treatment, physical therapy, external fixation treatment, surgical treatment, etc. 1. General treatment Avoid excessive wrist movement before seeing a doctor, and if necessary, appropriate fixation. Reduce pain and prevent further displacement of the fracture. 2. Drug treatment ibuprofen, indomethacin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Relieve pain and reduce inflammation. 3. Physical therapy in the acute phase of fracture local cold compress. Relieve pain, reduce swelling. 4. External fixation treatment for mild fractures, especially stable fractures. Use plaster or splint for external fixation. Keep the fracture site stable, promote fracture healing. 5. Surgical treatment for severe fractures, external fixation can not be performed or external fixation failure. Open reduction and internal fixation, or minimally invasive arthroscopy, to restore the anatomical position of the fracture, promote fracture healing, and reduce complications.
