BI-RADS is a classification system commonly used in breast imaging examination.

What does BI-RADS mean?

BI-RADS classification criteria are based on the specific size of the tumor, whether there is blood circulation in the tumor, whether the tumor boundary is smooth, calcification and whether there are abnormal enlarged lymph nodes in the ipsilateral armpit. It is usually divided into 0-6 grades. Grade 0 indicates incomplete evaluation and needs to be recalled. It is evaluated after other examinations. It indicates that the information obtained by the examination may not be complete. Grade 1 indicates negative results, and no abnormal lesions are found. That is, normal breast. Grade 2 is benign lesions, malignant can be basically ruled out, regular reexamination can be. Grade 3 benign lesions are more likely, malignant rate is less than 2%, but the follow-up time should be shortened, generally 3~6 months follow-up once. Grade 4 indicates suspected malignant lesions, malignant probability between 2%-94%, requiring clinical intervention by doctors, generally consider biopsy first. Grade 5 is highly suspected malignant lesions, basically can be identified as malignant disease, requiring surgical resection biopsy. Grade 6 indicates that there is already a grade of pathologically confirmed malignant lesions.
