What causes eye sty?

The main cause of sty is acute purulent inflammation caused by Staphylococcus aureus infection, which is usually caused by infection of the meibomian glands or sebaceous glands around the eyelash follicles.

Specifically, sty may be caused by a variety of factors, including poor hygiene habits (such as rubbing eyes with dirty hands), poor eating habits (such as eating cold and spicy foods), excessive use of eyes, staying up late, decreased resistance, and systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. These factors may lead to decreased immunity of the eyes, which may lead to sty.
