Causes of High Total Bile Acid

Restoring health, restoring hope.
High total bile acid may be caused by physiological factors, but also by pathological factors such as biliary obstruction and acute hepatitis. The details are as follows:
1. Physiological factors: After eating, the gallbladder needs to secrete bile to digest food, which will lead to high total bile acid levels in the blood.
2. Biliary obstruction: Under normal circumstances, bile will be discharged into the intestinal tract through the biliary tract and then excreted with feces. If biliary obstruction occurs, bile cannot be discharged from the body, resulting in high total bile acid.
3. Acute hepatitis: Acute hepatitis leads to liver function damage, causing bile acid secretion and excretion disorders, resulting in high total bile acid.
