What is amblyopia and diagnostic criteria

Empathy in care, excellence in medicine.
Amblyopia
is a common disease in children. Amblyopia may occur when the visual acuity value is lower than normal during the visual development period, but there is no organic disease. Clinically, amblyopia can be divided into strabismus amblyopia, refractive amblyopia, form deprivation amblyopia, etc., patients can take refractive correction or masking treatment to improve amblyopia.
The diagnostic criteria for amblyopia are visual examination, refractive state examination, electrophysiological examination, etc., as follows:
1. Vision examination
doctors will recommend children to take vision test, which can judge the degree of vision and amblyopia, such as 0.6~0.8 consider mild amblyopia.
2. Refractive state examination
Children are examined after using atropine drops to determine the specific refractive degree.
3. Electrophysiological examination
can help doctors judge whether there are abnormalities in the optic nerve and visual conduction pathway.
