What is the cause of corneal ulcer?

The causes of corneal ulcer are divided into infectious factors and non-infectious factors.

1. Infectious factors The

common causes of corneal ulcer are pathogenic bacteria infection, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Escherichia coli and other bacterial infections. Fusarium, Candida albicans, Aspergillus and other fungi as well as varicella-herpes zoster virus, herpes simplex virus type I and other viral infections and acanthamoeba infection.

2. Non-infectious factors

such as autoimmune factors lead to corneal collagenase activation, resulting in corneal tissue dissolution, the formation of moth-eaten corneal ulcer, corneal peripheral ulcer and so on.
