How to treat cysts in the brain

Restoring balance, one patient at a time.
The treatment methods of intracerebral cysts are mainly based on the type, size, location, symptoms and other factors. Common treatment methods include regular observation, surgical treatment, stereotactic aspiration, drug treatment and so on. 1. Regular observation For small and asymptomatic cysts, especially congenital cysts, regular cranial imaging, such as MRI or CT scans, is usually required to monitor changes in the cyst. If the cyst is stable for a long time and does not enlarge or cause symptoms, no special treatment is required. 2. Surgical treatment When the cyst is large, it causes obvious symptoms of increased intracranial pressure, such as headache, vomiting, papilledema, etc., or compression of surrounding brain tissue causes neurological dysfunction, such as limb weakness, paresthesia, seizures, etc., surgery needs to be considered. Surgical methods include cyst resection, cyst fenestration, cyst peritoneal shunt, etc. The specific surgical method should be selected according to the characteristics of the cyst and the patient's condition. 3. Stereotactic puncture aspiration For some deep or risky cysts, stereotactic puncture aspiration can be considered to extract the fluid from the cyst through minimally invasive methods to relieve symptoms. However, this method has a relatively high recurrence rate and may sometimes require multiple punctures. 4. Drug treatment is mainly used to relieve the symptoms caused by cysts. For example, antiepileptic drugs can be used according to the doctor's advice, such as carbamazepine, phenytoin sodium, phenobarbital, etc., but drug treatment cannot make cysts disappear.
