What is colposcopy for?

Colposcopy as an important tool for gynecological examination, mainly used to observe the female genital tract lesions. The main examination contents include observing vaginal and cervical lesions, assisting in the diagnosis of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, positioning biopsy, observation of vulva and genital lesions, etc.

1. Observing vaginal and cervical lesions

colposcopy through optical magnification technology, can magnify the vaginal and cervical mucosa 5-40 times, so that doctors can clearly observe these small lesions, such as inflammation, polyps, cysts and so on.

2. Assisting in the diagnosis of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions

Colposcopy can detect cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and early cervical cancer that are difficult to detect with naked eyes under strong light source irradiation, in conjunction with acetic acid test and iodine test, and improve the accuracy of diagnosis.

3. Location biopsy

For suspicious lesions, colposcopy can accurately locate and guide doctors to biopsy to obtain pathological tissues for further diagnosis.

4. Observation of vulva and genital lesions In

addition to vagina and cervix, colposcopy can also be used to observe vulva and genital lesions, providing evidence for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
