What are the steps of enteroscopy?

Healing hearts, healing lives.
The procedure includes preparation, anesthesia and intubation, observation and sampling.
1. Preparation Before
enteroscopy, the patient needs to inform the doctor about personal health, allergy history, medication use, etc. The doctor will evaluate the above information to ensure the patient's safety. In addition, the patient needs to perform bowel cleansing to prevent subsequent imaging.
2. Anesthesia and intubation
Enteroscopy can be performed with local anesthesia to reduce discomfort. The doctor will then insert a soft tube into the patient's anus to reach the small intestine.
3. Observation and sampling
During enteroscopy, the doctor can observe the internal conditions of the small intestine through the lens of the catheter. If abnormal, the doctor can conduct tissue sampling for further diagnosis.
