What causes severe acute pancreatitis?

Severe acute pancreatitis is a type of acute pancreatitis. The main causes include biliary tract disease, pancreatic duct obstruction, surgery and trauma.

1. Biliary tract diseases such

as cholelithiasis, biliary tract infection, etc. once the stones are embedded in the ampulla, inflammation or gallstones migrate to damage the Oddis sphincter, it can promote poor drainage of the pancreatic duct, and eventually cause severe acute pancreatitis.

2. Pancreatic duct obstruction such

as pancreatic duct stones, tumors or ascarids, etc., will lead to increased pressure in the pancreatic duct, poor drainage, causing severe acute pancreatitis.

3. Surgery and trauma

If the patient receives abdominal surgery or blunt abdominal trauma, pancreatic tissue can be damaged, leading to severe blood circulation disorders in the pancreas, and there is a certain chance of severe acute pancreatitis.
