What causes gastroesophageal reflux in neonates

Building a healthier future, together.
The main causes of gastroesophageal reflux in newborns include incomplete development of the lower esophageal sphincter, improper feeding, dyspepsia, etc.
1. The development of the lower esophageal sphincter is incomplete
due to the short time of birth and the imperfect development of body organs. It cannot prevent food reflux from the stomach to the esophagus, thus inducing gastroesophageal reflux.
2. Improper feeding
If the parents do not eat less and eat more when feeding the newborn, it may lead to excessive gastric contents, and then reflux upward, inducing gastroesophageal reflux.
3. Indigestion
If the newborn has dyspepsia, the food in the stomach cannot be emptied in time, it will remain in the stomach and reflux upward, inducing incomplete development of the lower esophageal sphincter.
