How is cholestasis caused?

Cholestasis may be caused by viral hepatitis, drug factors, liver cancer and other reasons.

1. Viral hepatitis

For patients with viral hepatitis A, viral hepatitis B, viral hepatitis C and other viral hepatitis, viral factors may cause liver damage and affect bile duct tissue in the liver, resulting in cholestasis.

2. Drug factors

In patients with long-term use of atorvastatin, methimazole, erlotinib and other drugs, cholestasis may occur due to drug components that cause bile formation, secretion and excretion disorders.
