What does atrophic gastritis O2 mean?

Atrophic gastritis type O2 is classified according to the scope of atrophy of gastric mucosa under endoscope according to Kimura-Takemoto classification method. Among them, the atrophic boundary beyond cardia is closed type (type C), and the atrophic boundary does not exceed cardia is open type (type O). Type O2 refers to atrophic boundary has spread all over gastric fundus.
Type C of atrophic gastritis can be divided into C1, C2 and C3. C1 refers to atrophic boundary limited to gastric antrum, C2 refers to atrophic boundary exceeding gastric angle, C3 refers to atrophic boundary exceeding gastric angle and approaching cardia. Type O can be divided into O1, O2 and O3. O1 refers to atrophic boundary just beyond cardia, O2 refers to atrophic boundary spread all over gastric fundus, O3 refers to atrophic boundary extending to gastric body. Generally, C1 and C2 belong to mild atrophy, C3 and O1 belong to moderate atrophy, and O2 and O3 belong to severe atrophy. It is recommended that patients undergo further pathological examination to confirm whether there is cancer.
