How is pancreatitis diagnosed?

Pancreatitis can generally be diagnosed by blood routine examination, trypsin determination, abdominal ultrasound examination and other methods.

1. Blood routine examination

can check white blood cell count through blood routine examination. If there is infection, white blood cell count may increase, which is helpful to make a preliminary diagnosis.

2. Abdominal ultrasound

Abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive examination method, which can observe the size, shape and presence of stones or masses of pancreas, and can further make a diagnosis.

3. Trypsin determination

Trypsin is one of the important enzymes secreted by pancreas. Abnormal increase in its level may indicate the existence of pancreatitis.
