Is colonoscopy different from colonoscopy and proctoscopy?

Colonoscopy is a general term, including colonoscopy and proctoscopy. The two are mainly different in terms of examination site, indications and discomfort.

1. Examination site

Rectoscopy mainly examines the rectum and sigmoid colon; colonoscopy can also examine the ileocecal region, ascending colon, descending colon, transverse colon, terminal ileum and sigmoid colon.

2. Compared with

colonoscopy, colonoscopy has a relatively wider indication.

3. Discomfort compared with

colonoscopy, the endoscope body is relatively hard, and the discomfort during examination is relatively strong, while colonoscopy usually has no obvious discomfort.
