What are the types of pancreatic injuries?

Pancreatic injuries can be divided into five types according to the severity of injury, as follows:
1. Grade
I injury is mild, with only slight contusion, laceration or hematoma on the pancreatic surface, without injury to the pancreatic duct.
2.
Grade II indicates deep contusion or laceration of the pancreas, with large hematoma, without injury to the pancreatic duct.
3.
Grade III indicates large and deep parenchymal injury at the tail of the pancreas, with injury to the pancreatic duct at the same time.
4.
Grade IV refers to large and deep parenchymal injury at the head of the pancreas, with involvement of the pancreatic duct at the same time.
5. Grade
V is a more serious type of pancreatic injury, which refers to extensive fragmentation of the head of the pancreas accompanied by injury to the main pancreatic duct.
