What disease is esophageal wall thickening?

Esophagus wall thickening may be caused by esophagitis, leiomyoma, esophageal cancer and other diseases.

1. Esophagitis

esophagitis is inflammation of esophageal mucosa, which may be caused by acid reflux, infection or drug use. Long-term inflammatory stimulation will cause local cell proliferation, which will cause esophageal wall thickening.

2. Leiomyoma

leiomyoma is a benign tumor, and abnormal proliferation of smooth muscle cells in the upper esophagus of patients will occur.

3. Esophageal

cancer is caused by malignant transformation of esophageal epithelial cells. Abnormal proliferation and diffusion of cancer cells will lead to mass formation in the esophageal wall, which will be manifested as esophageal wall thickening.
