What is the effect and function of Bupleurum chinense?

Bupleurum chinense has the functions of relieving exterior fever, soothing liver and regulating qi, and lifting yang qi. Bupleurum chinense is often used to treat exogenous fever, or liver qi stagnation caused by fullness of both hypochondrium, abdominal pain, upset, etc. Bupleurum chinense is often used together with scutellaria baicalensis to treat Shaoyang disease, alternating cold and heat, bitter mouth, etc. Bupleurum chinense and astragalus root compatibility, often used to treat qi depression caused by the force, visceral ptosis, muscle weakness and so on.
