Bowel sounds refer to the signs of gastrointestinal motility in the abdomen. Under normal circumstances, bowel sounds are low and gentle, generally difficult to hear. When intestinal function is abnormal or blocked, the bowel sounds are high and frequent. Clinically, the location and nature of the lesion are judged according to the site and sound of the sound. It is more common in acute gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal bleeding, or mechanical intestinal obstruction; weakened in senile constipation, peritonitis; disappeared in peritonitis. If it is simple, the bowel sounds are hyperactive. Generally seen in intestinal dysfunction and weakness of the spleen and stomach in traditional Chinese medicine.
