Are osteopenia and osteoporosis the same thing?

Osteopenia is a diagnosis given when measuring bone mineral density, which can reflect the strength and hardness of human bones. If osteopenia is serious, it will develop into osteoporosis. Therefore, the two conditions are pathologically similar, but they are not the same concept.
