HPV infection can cause cervical intraepithelial lesions, i.e. cervical cancer. Persistent infection of high-risk HPV types is the most important factor to promote the occurrence of cervical cancer. HPV has a variety of genotypes, different genotypes of HPV infection, can cause different clinical lesions. HPV is classified into high-risk and low-risk types. High-risk types, such as HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 51, 52, etc., are associated with cancer and precancerous lesions. Low-risk types, such as HPV6, 11, 42, 43, etc., are mainly associated with mild squamous intraepithelial lesions, urogenital warts, recurrent respiratory polyps, and HPV types are also associated with pathological types of cervical cancer.
