Acute laryngitis in children is mostly secondary to upper respiratory tract infection. Low resistance and malnutrition are prone to upper respiratory tract infection. Acute infectious diseases such as measles and whooping cough may also induce laryngitis. Chronic laryngitis is mostly related to incomplete treatment of acute laryngitis.
