Fungal vaginitis can be treated with nystatin or clotrimazole suppositories, and the vagina can be rinsed with baking soda or 2% sodium bicarbonate before medication. Bacterial and trichomonas vaginitis can be treated with metronidazole suppositories, trichomonas does not easily survive in acidic environments, and the vagina can be rinsed with acidic solutions.
