Main transmission routes of hepatitis E virus

The main routes of transmission of viral hepatitis E are fecal-oral transmission, blood transmission, mother-to-child transmission, etc.

1. Fecal-oral route

If the feces of a patient with viral hepatitis E contaminate drinking water sources, it may cause viral hepatitis E transmission; drinking unclean food or drinks may also cause viral hepatitis E infection.

2. Blood transmission If an

uninfected person receives blood or blood products from a patient with viral hepatitis E, he may be infected with viral hepatitis E.

3. Mother-to-child transmission

If a pregnant woman has viral hepatitis E, it may be transmitted to her fetus during childbirth.
