What does HPV-16 mean?

HPV 16 infection is often indicated in women who are positive for HPV16 after examination. HPV16 and 18 are common high-risk HPV infections, and the probability of causing cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer may reach more than 70%. Therefore, for women who are positive for HPV16, cervical TCT screening is normally required, and if necessary, cervical biopsy may be required under colposcopy to determine whether cervical lesions exist, because many HPV16-positive women may be accompanied by precancerous lesions, and TCT examination may not be able to detect lesions.
