Pancreatitis patients experience intense pain, which may be sudden, persistent pain in the left upper quadrant and may radiate to the left side of the back, while gastric patients do not experience radiation pain, and may experience nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea, which are not as severe as pancreatitis.
