Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by herpes simplex virus infection. It is mainly transmitted through sexual contact. Clinical manifestations are scattered or touched vesicles on the genitals and anal skin, erosions or ulcers after rupture, and conscious pain. It is often accompanied by systemic symptoms such as swelling and pain in inguinal lymph nodes, fever, headache, and fatigue. Diagnosis depends on laboratory tests, including virus culture, nucleic acid amplification tests, antigen testing, and serological tests. The course of HSV infection is usually 2-4 weeks. Antiviral drugs can shorten the course accordingly. The principle of treatment is to alleviate symptoms, reduce HSV emission and control its infectivity.
