Grading and Manifestation of Asphyxia Neonatorum

Neonatal asphyxia is defined as the absence of spontaneous breathing within one minute of birth due to various causes before or during childbirth. Neonatal asphyxia is classified according to skin color, muscle tone, respiration, heart rate and response to stimuli. It is divided into moderate asphyxia, mild asphyxia and severe asphyxia. Neonatal asphyxia is mainly characterized by dark purple lips, general skin cyanosis, superficial respiration, irregular heartbeat, disappearance of laryngeal reflex, relaxation of muscle tone, etc.
