How to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Restoring balance, one patient at a time.
Except for lung transplantation, there is no effective drug for pulmonary fibrosis. The treatment mainly includes drug therapy and non-drug therapy. Drug therapy includes N-acetylcysteine and pirfenidone, which can alleviate the deterioration of pulmonary function or reduce the frequency of acute exacerbation to a certain extent. Some patients with pulmonary fibrosis can be considered to use it, but the effect is uncertain. For acute exacerbation of pulmonary fibrosis, large doses of glucocorticoid are mostly used at present, but there is no evidence based on medicine. Non-pharmacologic therapy means that pulmonary rehabilitation training should be carried out as much as possible. In the presence of significant hypoxemia in the recent state, oxygen partial pressure is less than 55 mmHg, and long-term oxygen therapy should be carried out. However, invasive mechanical ventilation is generally not recommended for respiratory failure caused by pulmonary fibrosis.
